Existing v/s Living

Don't let the excitement of future ruin your happiness of present...

Good morning people. I am sorry for not posting for a couple of days but as I have told you in my previous blogs, I am in sophomore year and my exams are coming so there is a slight possibility that I won't be able to complete my moral obligation to writing but of course I will try my best. So, I just got to know that most people dream in colour, but people who grew up watching black and white TV tend to dream in black and white.

Today, ladies and gentlemen, we will talk about the difference between living and existing. So, what is the thing that you are looking forward to the most in a couple of days or months? How many many of you said, "I am excited for tomorrow"? How many of you said that in spite of tomorrow being a Monday, I am excited about it just because it is a new day and I want to see want life brings to me? Living is doing the craziest things, making the stupidest memories and sharing them with people you love. Existing is breathing, eating and sleeping. Telling yourself every day that you are surrounded by idiots and wishing that you could be anywhere but the place you currently are at and living on future expectations.

Tom Hiddleston once said that we have two lives, the second one begins when we realize we have only one. How many of you are just going to work because you have to or going to school just because of others? We often forget that it is our duty to keep others happy but, it is our moral obligation to keep ourselves happy first. You can never truly make others happy if you are in a bad mood. The first thing you need to do is make yourself happy. I am not talking about the happiness you will get if you punch a person you hate or just randomly start yelling at others. That might give you a sense of relief or maybe even feel good but that is not happiness.

Happiness is smiling at a random person, dancing in rain, walking in nature, smelling flowers and listening to music at 3 am (please be careful about the volume of music as there are high risks of being yelled at, getting a bullet in the head or even being abandoned depending on how pissed off your parents are). There are two types of happiness, extrinsic and intrinsic. Extrinsic happiness is the one you get when you think about your rewards or future. Intrinsic happiness is the one where you get happiness in the process. I feel like intrinsic happiness is the one that makes you a living being. Even if it's doing something you don't like. For example, listening to music while studying. Try small things to be happy about. Maybe the way the sunlight is coming through the windows, your favourite perfume, candles, or your siblings getting in trouble for something you did. This process is called Romanticizing.

You may not realise it but, the smallest thing can change the way you look at life. A bad moment doesn't mean a bad day and a bad day doesn't mean a bad life.

Remember, we are freaks, we are fragile and life is not a problem to be solved but, a reality to be experienced.

Goodbye and see you next Sunday.

Love Scarlett... 😊
